NorCal the emphasis is more on team sports and from an early age boys are conditioning themselves for competition in various sports. There's also a distinct 'look' between SoCal and NorCal guys, SoCal guys are more trim with lean upper bodies and NorCal guys tend to play more team sports so they're stronger with a lot more emphasis on the lower body.

NorCal boys grow up playing team sports and keep many of same friends all the way into high school with sports being their bond and it also determines who their peers are. It's a very guarded group and outsiders are usually not very welcome. It is in NorCal that I decided to explore this teen fraternity of jocks, that rumor had it, do more then just play sports together.

Danville is a town approximately 25 miles from San Francisco where the majority of residents are church going families, upper middle class, white, and physically beautiful. It is here that I did my research and met my first contact, Cody. Cody's the typical Danville teen, played soccer with his neighborhood friends, has an older brother that played football for San Ramon Valley HS. Parents are rich, life is good.

Cody's a bit different then the other teens he calls friends mainly because he's got a zany personality and likes to push people's buttons. He approached me at the gym we both worked out at since I was an outsider and he wanted to break the rules and meet someone outside of his usual circle.

Cody and I would hang out and do regular stuff guys do but then at night when we're both on the couch I sensed some tension. When I asked him if there was anything up he would just shrug it off and do something lame and then peace out on me. Then one day at the gym, on a Friday night when most teens don't usually go, Cody was there and he was on fire, it's like he forgot to take his Adderall or something. We worked out together but he was all over the gym and super hyped. When it came to the end of my workout I went to shower like usual and this time I had a surprise; Cody joined me. This was strange because Danville teens don't shower at the gym so I knew something was up and he didn't even have a towel so I could tell he was just itching to be naughty.

Cody was only 14 when this happened so there wasn't much I could do but watch the little 'show' he put on for me. It was pretty hot even though there's was no touching because of his age. When we talked about it later I asked if this sort of stuff happened with all his friends and he just gave me that 'look' and smiled. My guess was it did happen but none of the other teens were talking to me about it and neither was he.

Cody and I remain friends to this day, mainly through texts or IMs so the friendship is still there but we're not super close like we were back then. He's pretty absorbed with high school and doesn't frequent the gym as much.

At the same gym I meet a different Cody, this one is older and played football for SRV high school and he's also one of the main guys in the 'wolf pack' at the gym. He starts talking to me 'cause he likes my car. We start talking more every time I'm at the gym and he introduces me to his friend David. David is the alpha male of the current pack of wolves that go or went to SRVHS. He played varsity football iand seems to be the pack leader probably 'cause he grew up with all the guys in the wolf pack. EVERYONE knows David, he's got over 400 friends on FB. I guess it's because of his personality, he's a bit of a clown.

Needless to say it's not easy breaking into this tight knit circle of friends but knowing Cody (second Cody) and David seems to get me inside just a little bit. I guess 'cause I didn't grow up in Danville I'm not officially one of the pack but I did grow up on SoCal on the beach and that seems to intrigue some of them and just knowing David seems to get some of the guys talking to me.

As I get to know some of these guys more it's apparent they don't take lightly to outside strangers. In fact, they're suspicious of everyone that isn't part of their pack. The guys I met, Cody, David, Chachi, Greg, seem cool but there's even more guys in the pack and they're not super friendly to me but they're not hostile either probably 'cause I know Cody and David.

So right from day one of meeting David I'm in awe. He's amazingly pretty, almost like a girl but in a good way. He's got this beautiful face, amazing eyes and lips. He's obviously obsessed with his body 'cause every time I'm at the gym he's there but he seems to only focus on his upper body and eventually realizes his lower body is a bit weak. That's his reason for making contact with me. He asks me about my lower body work out and now we work out together. He's the only teen at the gym on Friday nights and I ask him why he's not with his bros or a girl since it is Friday night, he just grins. Weeks go by with us working out together until one day, just like with Cody, when none of the other wolves are around, David grabs a towel and showers with me. The gym is dead 'cause it's Friday night so we have the whole shower room to ourselves and almost the identical thing happens with David like it did with Cody but this time there is contact and mainly because I'm interested, David is hot.

David and I have been hanging out for a few months now and any time I've questioned him on whether other guys in his pack also have these strange 'friendships' with each other, his response is 'Yeah, it's not sex dude, it's just a game'. What he won't tell me is what guys do what with what other guys but just the other day the Chachi kid from the pack asked to work in with me on my shoulder work out. Chachi wrestles but is too small to play football and since I'm sort of 'messing' with David, I don't think I should start with Chachi, or should I?

When I tell David that Chachi worked in with me he didn't seem at all suspicious or jealous. All he said was Chachi was cool and that I should spend time with him. Whoa. So I'm on a roll so I ask David "Well what about Greg? Can I hang out with Greg?". And all David says to me is I'll never hang out with Greg, which is a shame because out of all the wolves I would have to say that Greg is the most handsome and has the body that I lust for; all super ripped upper body, not bulky at all, with a rockin' ass and legs, plus he drives an awesome new Ford truck. He's off limits so my guess is he's straight. But how can you tell with these guys?

So when I ask David if Greg's straight, he tells me "We're all straight, we date girls, we're going to get married and have families eventually". I don't know what to think of this 'cause it's a bit unconventional but I guess it's a new era so different friendships are being formed. When I ask David why he thinks the guys do this but don't think of themselves as doing gay things, he just shrugs and says "It's a game, our dicks are toys, we like to show them off to each other without having all the baggage that comes along with doing girls all the time. And besides, it's just a different bond, it's like we get to know every single detail of someone we're super close to, someone we grew up with. Eventually we'll probably grow out of it or maybe we won't but it'll always be on the DL and no one but us has to know."

So there's my answer, sort of, and if it happens here I'm sure it's happening in other small towns across the country. Maybe it's a new way for guys to bond without having all that 'gay lifestyle' stuff to have to deal with. Maybe it's a way for guys to get off differently then when they do with a girl they're eventually going to get married to. Maybe it's just a new way for naughty guys to get off with guys they hero worship but don't necessarily want a romantic relationship with.

Whatever the reason, I'm ok with it, I'm just glad I got to experience it so that it makes more sense to me. And yeah, I guess it's really true: bros before ho's.

David Responds To "Boys Just Wanna..."

hey hey, so c. tells me people are wanting to hear some sort of explanation about why i got with him and whether my bros do the same thing. hah, people don't snitch but i can tell you some things...

yeah we all notice when someone new sort of invades our domain, this one being the gym we all go to. some of us are already out of high school and some are younger brothers that are still going to srvhs but we're all still wolves. most of us grew up here and have been playing sports together since we were little. from the pee wee t-birds all the way up to srvhs wolves. danville is our hometown, most of us spend summer break in La Jolla and winters in Tahoe where one or more of the families have second homes. i guess since we've known each other since we were little there's a bit of attitude when someone new comes along and c. was no different.

we could tell he was from soCal with the way he carried himself. he wasn't very friendly and would keep to himself. what got our attention is he's got this sick workout routine that obviously works since his body is effing ripped but i think a lot of that has do to with him surfing all the time when he's back home in soCal.

anyway, when he first started working out at the gym, me and my closest bros were still going to srvhs so there was no way we were going to invite him into the wolf pack. it wasn't really my idea but these other super jock types i guess were a bit intimidated by his workout so they trashed talked him and most of us younger guys would just follow their lead: Ignore him.

so last year a bunch of the older wolves graduated and went away to college except for a handful of us that need to do the 2-year community college route, and no, i ain't stupid or nothing, just sorta lazy.

once the main football jocks left it was only me and a couple of the other guys still working out at the gym and we didn't care if we talked to c., everyone i knew was sorta curious about him anyway even if they didn't admit it. see i guess we got a 'look' up here in norCal and he didn't fit that look. he didn't have a buzz cut or wear cz's in each ear, we do. plus he was always wearing all kinds of different get ups at the gym showing off his body and all, that's typical soCal attitude. i liked it though, every time i've stayed down in La Jolla on break i see the same look that c. sports. it's cool. i'm not intimidated.

so the way i meet c. is through my bro cody. i guess cody and him got some stuff in common, something about cars and shiz, so they've been hanging out when they're at the gym just talking 'bout stuff. then i come along and say 'hey' and c.'s sort of shy but talks to me a little bit about my workout 'cause i'm asking him about his sick core workout.

cody's gone to away to school now so it's really just me and c. that hang out. friday nights are the night we can spend time without all the other wolves trying to get my attention although Chachi has now started working out friday nights, but he's cool, and this clown from monte vista hs, our rival, and this clown is starting to ask to work in with c. too so he's being a sort of b_tch if you ask me and pissing me off.

whatever, i can tell from the look in c.'s eyes that he's effing fascinated by me and that i talk to him and that some of the other wolves think he's interesting. all i can say is i was his friend first and from what he tells me he considers me the alpha dog and i'm cool with that. i guess i'm the alpha but only 'cause i know everyone and i got a goofy personality.

so what sort of messing around have we done and who's we? dude i can't tell you that kind of stuff. i guess you can imagine what goes on, same stuff you do only there's not a whole lot of romance type stuff. i mean it's basically getting off. one guy showing his junk to the other and stuff like that. some of the guys say they don't do everything but i'm guessing that's probably not true. i mean being with a guy is totally different then being with a girl anyway. it's less romance and relationship and more showing off, and most of us are big on showing off. and girls get all possessive about sex and shit, guys don't.

if you think about it, it's not much different then some of the hazing that goes on in school. i mean when i played jv for san ramon the very first hazing that was done to all the frosh's was them eating the slice of bread. oh what? you don't know what that's all about? it's when all the varsity players force the frosh's to jack onto a slice of bread and the one that shoots off last has to eat the slice. that person was me when i was a frosh and that's how i got my nickname dipshit.

and don't freak, it wasn't so bad, it was hot watching some of my close friends jack anyway and the slice was nasty but knowing that two of my friends tossed off onto it didn't make it so bad. and damn, some of those bitches have funky dicks. i've never seen so many different kinds.

so anyway, now it's friday and tonight Chachi comes again and wants to workout with both of us. i get along with Chachi but not everyone does. he's a wrestler so he has this chip on his shoulder probably 'cause he's sorta small in size, i don't mean dick size perv, i mean body size, like he's still got his kid body even though he works out hella hard. anyway he wants to learn c.'s workout 'cause he thinks he'll get all ripped like c., i'm not jealous or nothing and i bet he joins us in the showers after the work out. i've seen Chachi naked before in gym class, for a little guy he's got a freakin' big dick. i guess he's part mexican or something. probably why he walks around all cocky and shit.

so i'm sorta rambling here but i'm trying to answer some of the questions from the article. well one, i'm not top heavy. my body effing rocks :-) or so i think. i guess i could use some help on my lower body since i haven't really played football and haven't done drills in a while and my lower body is sort of all deflated. c.'s workout will help me get strong and pop out my arse again though. that's one thing Chachi doesn't need though 'cause his arse is podunkadunnk so is my friend greg's who c. crushes on hard and i can see why. greg's body does rock most of it is genetic though, all his older brothers have the same build. plus he played varsity fb so he's got ass and legs that i don't. fucker.

so yeah, i think that's about all. you can read from my dribble that it's not about romance or kissin' on guy for us as much as it is just showing off, getting off and bonding. i guess sort of like the spartans back in greek times. you know, where the younger guys hero worshipped the older guys and the older guys would take the younger guys and teach them how to do battle. and to bond they'd fuck and shit and then later on when they got older they'd get married and start a family.

yeah it's something like that but don't ever call us wolves, spartans, de la salle spartans are our cross town rivals...
